Personal Protection In The Home

This course develops in students the basic knowledge, skills and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a firearm for protection of self and family, and provides information on the law-abiding citizen's right to self defense.   Participants in this course must be experienced shooters who can demonstrate mastery of basic pistol shooting skills.


Evidence of shooting experience can be validated by one of the following:
NRA Beginning Pistol Shooting Seminar and NWSA Shooting Course
NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Class Certificate
NRA First Steps Pistol Class Certificate
Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program (pistol disciplines)
Pistol classification card issued by NRA, IDPA, IPSC
Military DD-214 showing pistol qualification
Passing the Pre-Course Evaluation
Other evidence of pistol shooting proficiency


Participants must provide a pistol or revolver at least .380/.9mm/.38 Special caliber. Semiautomatics must have at least two magazines and revolvers need two speedloaders. Bring at least 100 rounds of any safe ammunition, and an extra 50 rounds if possible. Holsters will not be used or allowed.
