Matches

NWSA currently holds two types of pistol matches

IDPA Matches

Founded in 1996, the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) is the governing body of a shooting sport that simulates self-defense scenarios and real life encounters, testing each participant's skill in negotiating the complexities of each situation.

IDPA offers an exciting forum for practical shooters in which practical equipment, techniques and courses of fire are mandated. Prior to IDPA, there was no place to compete with common service pistols and no shooting sports where your concealed carry holster could also be your match holster without handicap. When you come to an IDPA match, you are free to use your duty/CCW equipment without penalty. If the idea of using practical pistols to solve challenging and exciting defensive shooting problems excites you, then IDPA is the sport for you!

ASI Matches

Founded in 2015, Action Shooting International is the governing body of a shooting sport where participants negotiate a series of simple courses focusing on the practical use of handgun. It features a scoring system that promotes a relaxed, friendly attitude (not unlike a bowling league). In each ASI match you will face a shooting problem (called a "stage") focused on a particular experience or skill, such as reloading, shooting around an obstacle, or shooting while moving.

The challenges participants face are “doable” for average gun owners, and are particularly suited to people who are, for example, learning to draw from concealment. The stages repeat over the course of the year, giving participants a chance to track your improvement.
